THE STANTON SOCIAL Part 2, NYC Day 2

Our return visit to Stanton Social came at 11:30pm, late after a Yankee game. Compared to the early happy hour vibe during our previous visit, Stanton Social’s after dinner crowd was much more trendy and upbeat, with every table full and the stylish upstairs bar even more busy. This being our last meal of the night, we indulged in 4 small plates plus some fun desserts.

SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN & CASHEW SPRING ROLLS
Sweet Chili Sauce

Recommended by our waiter, these spring rolls were a nice balance of sweet, spicy, and nutty. Complimented by a yummy sweet chili dipping sauce, we would definitely order these again if given the chance.

POTATO & GOAT CHEESE PIEROGIES
With Caramelized Onions & Truffle Crème Fraiche

Although not the most visually appealing dish of the night, this was definitely one of our favorites. The potato and goat cheese filling was rich and creamy, and the caramelized onions added some great flavor. But the key ingredient to this dish was the truffle crème fraiche, which we couldn’t get enough of.

KOBE BEEF BURGER ‘SLIDER’

From the same part of the menu as the mini Kobe “Philly” from our previous visit, we decided to sample one of these sliders for comparison, not only to the cheese steak variety, but a similar option from Sidebar in Beverly Hills. This version was more simple and classic, but definitely a winner.

CHIPOTLE GRILLED SHRIMP
With Tomatillo, Corn & Feta Relish

Recommended by our server (who also served us on our first visit), the shrimp were an easy finish to our foursome. The chipotle zing wasn’t overpowering, allowing the feta relish and other sauces to mix well.

WARM DOUGHNUTS
Strawberry, Chocolate & Caramel Dipping Sauces
&
CHOCOLATE MALTED MILKSHAKE SHOTS

All the reviews on Stanton Social that we came across raved about their homemade doughnuts and how they were not to be missed. We were glad we listened. These light, fluffy and warm sugar doughnuts absolutely melted in our mouths. Although wonderful by themselves, the strawberry, chocolate & caramel dipping sauces added a new dimension to each bite. Messy and delicious, we polished them off and had to stop ourselves from ordering more.

Determined to fill every drop of space in our bellies, we complemented the doughnuts with two shots of thick chocolate malted milkshake. I’m fairly certain that it was this last addition that prompted us to cancel breakfast the next morning.
